Memorials are preferred to the Adeline Swan Memorial, School District #8, 405 Central Avenue S.; White Sulphur Springs, MT 59645 or the school of your choice to help educate children. Adeline, or "Pee Wee" as her family and dear friends knew her, was born on May 3rd, 1924, in Livingston, Montana at the family home on North I Street. She was the daughter of Marco and Natalina (Indendi) Parisi. She received her education in Livingston attending the North Side School and Park County High School, graduating class of 1947. She then went to summer school at the Dillon Normal School, now: the University of Montana Western. In September of 1947 she went to teach at the Cottonwood School. It was a one room school house with a room attached to board the teacher. She had always remembered the big pot belly stove in the corner of the school room. After her tenure at Cottonwood she went back to school to attain her teaching certificate and then took a job teaching at the Ryegate School for a year before returning to school again to earn her Masters Degree in teaching. She then moved to White Sulphur Springs and met the love of her life, Roy Swan. On June 6th of 1948, Adeline Rose Parisi was united in marriage to Roy Swan, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Livingston. Adeline and Roy started their lives together living in White Sulphur Springs, moving to Missoula for a year as Roy attained his masters degree in education. Upon returning to White Sulphur Springs, she went into administration becoming the Superintendent of the School District, but went back to becoming a classroom teacher due to her love for children and the joy that brought her. She filled her summers with other jobs such as working at the golf course, the court house, the castle, the library and tutoring. Adeline and Roy enjoyed 61 years of sunrises and sunsets together until Roys passing on July 17th, 2009. In 2010 Aunt Pee Wee moved back to Livingston, to the same block she had been raised on to be closer to her family. Adeline had a special place in her heart for children. She had no children of her own but made an impact on so many other childrens lives, one student is quoted as saying, "As my second grade teacher she had a great heart and could be tough, but she made us better adults for it". If a student would come to school wearing old tattered clothing she would make sure that a nice outfit was waiting for them on their hook the following day. One of her nieces had someone tell her she had taught three generations of their family. She cared for her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews having them up to her home to stay often. Adeline belonged to many groups and associations during her time in White Sulphur Springs. She constantly was working to better her community and help all that were in need. She was especially fond of her church, St. Bartholomews, serving the parish in many capacities. She will be remembered for having some of the best jokes, ones you would not necessarily expect to hear from sweet Pee Wee She could play piano by ear right up to her last days. She was generous, patient and had the Parisi family ingenuity. She baked cookies; often bringing dozens by for family and friends or anyone who she thought needed a little sweetening-up. She loved to fish and had taken Mickey once, teaching her how to bait her hook by grabbing her worms and heading up stream leaving her to fend for herself. She and Mickey so enjoyed going their weekly outings, having their hair done, having lunch, shopping and going for drives. They would also honor their family members who had passed before them by cleaning and decorating the monuments at the cemetery for every Memorial Day. Blessed be her memory. Adeline is survived by her: Siblings, Manuella "Mickey" Roberts of Livingston, Marco Parisi and his wife, Dorothy of Livingston, and Geraldine Stoneman of Seattle, WA. Sisters-in-law, Loretta Parisi of Livingston, Kathleen Probandt of Texas and Delores Larsen of New Mexico. Brother-in-law, Col. Valley Swan of California. Many, many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Adeline is preceded in death by her Parents, Marco and Natalina; Husband, Roy; Siblings, Tony, Evelyn, Carolyn, Virginia, Jenny, John and Martin. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
