Amelia "Mimi" Johnson

December 27, 1952 — December 11, 2024

Livingston

Amelia “Mimi” Johnson (‘nee Warnick), passed away on December 11th, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer; she was 71 years young. Her daughters, Anna Lee and Laura Jane, were by her side as she passed. Always an overachiever, Mimi turned an expectation of 2 weeks in hospice into 6 months of extended family time. She was able to enjoy all four seasons from budding spring blossoms, warm summer sunshine, colorful fall foliage, to the last winter’s kiss.

Mimi’s children and grandchildren were the joys of her life. She was happiest when they were in her home and could assist in puttering, yard work, moving heavy furniture, collecting rocks, organizing, or “re-a-estranging” in artistic ways.

Mimi was resilient, strong, kind, loyal, generous, clever, and extremely organized. She was concerned about her book-keeping being in proper order prior to her passing. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, thrifting and yard sales, bird watching, rock hounding, and spending quality time with close friends and loved ones.

Mimi graduated from Montana State University with a degree in accounting and worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for over 30 years, serving both the private and government sectors throughout her career. Mimi left the workforce in the late 1997 to take care of her husband and the family home in the Shields Valley area. She and her husband, Lee Johnson, lived in the Montana communities of Great Falls, Dillon, and Butte, before returning to their hometown of Livingston.

Mimi was exceptional, noted for her humor and quick wit. Everything in life was an opportunity for learning and growing. Mimi was full of practical advice and words of wisdom which her children refer to as “the commandments of Mimi” (available upon request). Always a planner, she advised her children that she would “pop-in for spirit visits” when they least expect so make the most of life. Such visits are especially likely during holidays, happy gatherings, organizing, or big transition events.

Mimi was proceeded in death by her husband Lee Johnson, grandson Forrester Bo White, brother Milo Warnick, and her parents Violet Strickland Warnick and Rodney “Roy” Warnick.

Amelia is survived by her daughters Anna Lee (Troy) Troxel and Laura Jane (Christopher) White, grandchildren Ciella Dae, Alexander James, Whittaker Lee, and Christopher Bo; siblings Jane (Don) Baker, John (Patty) Warnick, James (Bonnie) Warnick, Laura Bittner, David Warnick, and Victor (Francis) Warnick; close friends Jim and Lexi Marsh, Peggy Riggs, and Jill Yerigan Henton, along with numerous nephews and nieces.

Cremation has taken place. The family intends to hold a private memorial at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Mimi’s memory and passion for animals and life by donating to your local animal shelter or planting something fabulous. If nothing else, be sure to appreciate the fine qualities of a fantastic rock.
