Arlene Sarah Sykes

July 19, 1934 — January 17, 2025

Livingston

Alrene passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, of natural causes at the age of 90. She was a resident of Clyde Park, MT and recently at Livingston Health and Rehab. Arlene was born in Barron, WI to William and Mata (Raven) Jergenson and she had one brother, Jerry, of Barron, WI.

Arlene, with her husband Wayne, moved their family to Montana in 1968 because “grandma saw a mountain”. They lived in Arlee, MT upon their arrival until 1975 then travelled with work to Billings, MT, where they both worked at the Yellowstone Country Club. Arlene worked as the head gardener, planting hundreds of flowers and she received many compliments from the club members. She worked there until she and Wayne retired and moved to Townsend, MT.

Arlene loved to travel with Wayne and their dog, Toby, spending many hours in Yellowstone Park. Wayne always said she could “stretch a nickel” farther than anyone he knew. They would put that extra change in the gas tank, load up the cooler and head out to make adventures. Sometimes we couldn’t reach them and we knew they were out making memories.

Arlene became a widow in 2007 and she moved to Clyde Park, MT to be closer to her family until her passing.

She is survived by her brother Jerry of Barron, WI, her children, Dave, Jim, Kathie (Nelson) and John, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Per her request cremation has taken place and a private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the Livingston Health and Rehab Center for the excellent care given to our mom during her stay. Thank you also to Livingston Billings Clinic Hospice for their care and services as well.
