Bernice Dennis, 87, of Livingston, Montana, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the Livingston HealthCare Hospital with her family at her side. A memorial funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Thursday, November 19, at American Lutheran Church in Livingston. Graveside committal and burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. A coffee and cake fellowship will follow the interment at American Lutheran. Bernice was born on March 30, 1928 to Norwegian immigrants, Oscar and Amanda (Haukland) Hogstad in Livingston. She grew up East of Livingston on the family ranch and attended local schools. On July 31, 1944 she married the love of her life, Bill R. Dennis. Together, they raised three daughters. In 1955, Bernice went to work for John Hellesmark at Farmers Creamery as a bookkeeper, a position she held until retiring in 1998. She spent her life supporting her husband Bill during his career as a fireman, fire chief, councilmen and later mayor of Livingston. They shared 44 years of marriage before he passed away in 1998. Their love was a true love story. Nana's (as she was affectionately called) greatest joy were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was their biggest fan and spent numerous hours at rodeos, state and county fairs, football, basketball and volleyball games cheering them on. She is survived by her three daughters Sherri (Ron) Bohleen, Big Piney, WY, Billie Kaye (Dennis) Harms, Livingston, and Lorrie (Gail) Vennes, Townsend. Her grandchildren: Lynnda Kaye (Pete) Thompson, Pavillon, WY; J.R. (Bev) Bohleen, Kalispell; Ryle (Billie) Harms, Miles City; Ryan (Antoniette) Harms, Livingston; Denice (Tanner) Harris, East Helena; and Tyler (Holley) Vennes, Sedan. Her great-grandchildren: Chancee and KC Norby, Olivia and Brooke Harris, Chalee Harms, Teah Vennes and Emma and Justin Bohleen. One great-great grandson, Rhyett Norby. She is also survived by two sisters, Pansy Nelson and Arlene Graham both of Livingston, sister.-in-law, Eunice Hogstad Hought of Williston, N.D., along with numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends. Bernice was a member of the American Lutheran Church, Park County Pioneers and past board member of Livingston Healthcare. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter, two brothers, Elmer Hogstad and James Hogstad and a sister, Delores McGaugh. Nana, you are forever in our hearts. We find peace in knowing you are once again united with Grandpa. We love you. Donations or memorials in Bernice's name may be given to the Livingston Healthcare Foundation, 320 Alpenglow Lane, Livingston, MT or the donor's choice.Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston.
