James Robert "Bob" Dean, 82, of Livingston, Montana passed away peacefully August 1, 2016 with his family at his side. In lieu of services, an open house style remembrance will be held at Sacajawea Park, at the gazebo, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016. Memorials are preferred to First Baptist Church, 202 E Lewis St, Livingston, MT 59047 or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Bob was born on September 16, 1933 in Livingston, Montana to James Rayment and Montana Kathryn (Shadoan) Dean. He was the first born of three children. Surviving him are his two sisters, Lou Ann and Kathleen. He attended schools in Livingston and was graduate of Park County High School class of 1953. He entered military service and served in the Army from 1955-1958 stationed in Mannheim/Heidelberg Germany. On August 24th, 1955 Bob was united in marriage to Barbara Pearson in Bel Air, Maryland Barbara joined Bob in Europe and their oldest son Randy was born in Heidelberg Military Hospital.. Bob worked for the Northern Pacific/Burlington Northern railroad as an oil technician. He retired in1988. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and had served as treasurer. Bob had a private pilot's license and loved flying in his Cessna. He and Barb wintered in Arizona and Texas and they spent three months RVing in Mexico. He cherished time spent traveling with his family. They had traveled to Hawaii twice, Aruba, Europe landing in London,then flew to Barcelona Spain -Carnival cruise-making 11 port stops and visiting many countries..the hi-light was Venice.. After the cruise, son Ron rented a car and we drove much of the European continent and re-visiting our military life.... His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and watching his grandchildren grow. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Pearson) Dean of Livingston, MT; three sons, Randy (Edna) Dean of Opportunity, MT, Ron (Kim) Dean of Park City, MT and Rick (Mary) Dean of Laurel, MT. His eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are his two sisters, Lou Ann (Dennis) Skattum of Livingston, MT and Kathleen (Don) Babkirk of Spokane, WA. Bob was preceded by his parents J.R. (Ray) and Montana Dean.
