Bonnie Lou (Vezina) Smith

Bonnie Lou Smith of Livingston, Billings, Boise, and Lander, Wyoming, born April 2nd 1950, passed away in the early hours of Monday morning surrounded by her family, March 6th, 2017. Memorial service will be held Friday the 10th at 10am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Livingston, Montana at 110 W Summit St. with a small reception afterwards. Later in the evening there will be a gathering of family, friends and other colleagues in life at Bonnies place of residence for dinner and remembrance. You may also pay your respects to Bonnie Smith and family at Franzen-Davis Funeral home on Thursday the 9th from noon to 7 pm with the family present between 5 and 7pm Livingston, and the grave side service will be held on Saturday the 11th at 12pm at Sunset Memorial Gardens Billings Montana. Bonnie Lou Vezina was born in Greeley Colorado in 1950. She was the daughter of George and Aveda Vezina. She lived in Leadville Colorado as small child. The family migrated to Lander Wyoming where she grew up and graduated from Lander Valley High School class of 1969. She was home coming queen, cheer leader and a firecracker all wrapped up in one great personality. After high-school she attended some college and started to work for Ma-Bell. She was first married in 1971 to Dan Smith. Shortly after, she was living in Arizona with her husband and had given birth to two sons, Derek and Brian. The family moved from Phoenix to San Diego to Casper and one last time to Billings to raise her sons. 1990 she found herself moving one more time due to the phone company relocating to Boise. She made more friends, was married a second time and loved her extended family as if they were her own, she worked until she was able to retire and moved to Livingston Montana in 1998. She lived here for a while before moving to Billings to help her ailing parents until their passing. All the while she was in Billings, she helped her son, Brian through college, and she believed the importance of family was paramount to everything else and even through distance she continued to spend as much time with her son and her grandchildren. She found her herself living in Livingston Montana once again near her other son, Derek, where he has resided for a number of years. She found herself making new friends and enlarging the circle of people who loved her, respected her, and valued her. These are some of the things that brought fulfillment to her life. It is here in Livingston where she found that she had lung cancer, over the next few months she took chemo and radio therapy all in an attempt to help mitigate the cancer and extend her life as much as possible. All through the treatment she had kept an optimistic outlook, even at the last few days of this trying time for herself and her family she would laugh, she also yearned to be home and be surrounded by the people who loved her. This tumultuous time has shown us that laughter is truly the best of medicine that brings smiles to the people we love and fulfills our experiences with someone who is extremely special to us. Bonnie will be missed by many and our love goes to her for she filled a very special place in our hearts. Bonnie Smith will be remembered by her two sons Derek and Brian Smith with his wife Sarah, and her grandchildren she loved most of all Madelyn, Isaac and Aiden. She will also be in the thoughts and prayers of her siblings: Johnna White and brothers David Vezina and his wife Robyn, and Denis Vezina. She will also be in the hearts and minds of her nieces and nephews from all around the country: Sherri, Darren, Kristen, Megan, Devon, Jessica, Michael, Kaylee, Alveda, Jacob, Megan, Justin Her parents George and Alveda and her brother Danny and his wife Lynda have preceded her in death and will be waiting for her in the Kingdom of Heaven.
