Carol Joy Hancock

September 8, 1954 — December 12, 2023

Livingston

Carol Joy Hancock, 69, of Livingston, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.

Carol was born on September 8, 1954, in Livingston.  She was the daughter of Donald “Smoke” and Adeline “Toots” (Berland) Mosness.  Growing up, Carol attended Livingston schools, and was a graduate of Park High School’s class of 1972.

Carol was united in marriage to her High School sweetheart, Charles “Chuck” Hancock, on February 22, 1975.  A marriage that blessed them with 3 children, daughters Melissa & Becky, and son Kyle, and a marriage that would bless them with 48 years of memories, adventure, love, and support.

While in Livingston, Carol worked at Montgomery Wards, and Sears, before her and Chuck moved to Spokane, with their daughter Melissa, for a short period of time.  After returning back to Livingston, Carol became a Travel agent at Mountain View Travel, and loved helping people make travel plans, along with being able to take a few trips herself.  Years later, Carol worked alongside her mom and daughter Becky, with their business, B&G River Shuttle, for 12 years in the summers, where many priceless memories were made.

Carol had a zest for life and was always up for a good time.  To snowmobile racing with her sister in their High School years, to playing league softball in the summers, to taking her kids skiing, Carol loved it all.  As life went on, Carol handled life’s setbacks, with perseverance, positivity, and grace, not letting anything slow her down. She enjoyed her social gatherings with friends, from bowling to bunco, to everything in between.  Her presence lit up a room, with a smile and laugh that were hard to forget.  A kind soul, that was always willing to lend a helping hand.  Carol valued her friendships, and touched so many lives throughout her life.

Of all Carol’s life adventures, nothing compared to the love of that of her children.  Melissa, Becky, and Kyle were the center of her world, and the light of her life.  A mother’s unconditional love; always beaming with pride, and cheering loud in all they did, she never missed a thing.  Carol was later blessed with 3 grandsons, Brody, Finlay, and Krew, who shined a light on her life in a new way, and she adored those boys.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Charles “Chuck” Hancock; daughters Melissa Hancock of Livingston, Becky Hancock of Butte, and son Kyle (Kelsey) Hancock of Livingston, grandsons Brody, Finlay, and Krew Hancock, sister-in-law Cindy Anderson of Livingston, brother-in-law Donald Hancock of Butte, niece Hayley (Zach) Carey of Livingston, great niece and nephew Hayden and Lane Carey, along with many relatives and loved ones.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents Donald “Smoke” and Adeline “Toots” Mosness, sister MaryAnn Mosness, grandparents Ole and Edith Mosness, and Ragnvald and Alice Berland, father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles and Mollie Hancock, along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.

To know her, was to love her, and she is going to be dearly missed by all.
