Carol Elaine Handl, 69, of Livingston, Montana, passed away Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. A Memorial Gathering and coffee social hour will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 31st, at the American Legion, 112 North B Street, Livingston. Carol was born on July 28th, 1946 in Weona, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Earl Leo and Aline (Watson) Poindexter. She received her education in Turrel, Arkansas and was a graduate of the Turrel High School. She met Ken Handl through her brother, who Ken had met while running a road sign crew out of West Memphis, AR. They dated for a few years before their marriage. On July 30, 1976, Carol Elanie Poindexter was united in marriage to Kenneth Handl, in West Memphis, AR. Their marriage was blessed with two children, James and Kim, who Carol had from a previous marriage. They shared 39 years of marriage. Carol and Ken moved the family to Livingston, Montana in June of 1979. Carol was employed as a Retail Clerk for much of her life. She worked at Dan Baileys Fly Shop, Yellowstone Gateway Sports, the Senior Center Thrift Store and most recently at the new Yellowstone Gifts and Sports. She retired recently to care for the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Carol was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary, lifelong member, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hat Society. Carol enjoyed the outdoors and the time spent camping with her family at Canyon Ferry Lake. She was a people person and loved to share the family happenings. She could be feisty but enjoyed making others smile. She worked hard and cared deeply for her family and friends. Blessed be her memory. Carol is survived by her: Husband, Ken Handl of Livingston. Son, James White and his wife, Nancy of Helena. Daughter, Kim Force of Alabama. 8 Grandchildren; 6 Great-grandchildren. One Brother and four Sisters all in Arkansas. Nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Carol is preceded in death by her Parents, Leo and Aline Poindexter and 3 Brothers and a Sister and a Granddaughter. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
