Carroll Clayton Siebler

September 22, 1919 — May 2, 2014

Clayton "Carroll" Siebler, 94, of Livingston, Montana, passed away on May 2, 2014, at Livingston Health and Rehabilitation Center. Carroll was born on September 22, 1919 on a farm near Platte Center, Nebraska to Henry and Martha (Henning) Siebler. He attended Platte Center schools until the family moved to Columbus, Nebraska in 1928 where he continued his schooling. He was confirmed in 1933 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Columbus. At 10 years of age he contracted polio, but still went on to be active in sports and outdoor activities. He graduated from Kramer High School in Columbus in 1937. After graduating he worked for Dr. Pepper Bottling Company in Columbus. In 1941 he came to Livingston to visit his parents and stayed. Two weeks later he went to work for the Livingston Milling Company, working there until his retirement in 1982. He had been a manager there for 17 years. He loved hunting, fishing and fast pitch softball. In 1996 he was inducted into the Montana Softball Hall of Fame in Lewistown, Montana. He was quite proud of this achievement. The program for his induction states "His main position was catcher. His batting average was approximately .370, but some years over .400". Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, twin sisters Caroline Siefken and Catherine, and brothers Milton and Lester (infant). He is survived by nieces, Cathy Conard of Windsor, Colorado; Jolene Reiners of Nampa, Idaho; Nikki Siebler and Kathy Skaarland, both of Lewiston, Idaho; and nephew, Milton "Butch" Siebler of Lewiston, Idaho. The family would like to thank all of the staff and residents of the Park County Senior Center for the kindness they showed to him. Also, thank you to the doctors and nurses who cared for him in his final months, especially the caring nursing staff at Livingston Health and Rehabilitation Center. Per Carrolls wishes there will be no services. Memorials may be given to the Park County Senior Center or donors choice. Arrangements by the Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston.
