Chad Orlin Malcolm, 47, passed away unexpectedly December 11, 2022. Chad was born February 4, 1975, to Bruce and Connie Malcolm. Chad spent his childhood on the family ranch in Tom Miner Basin and Emigrant. He attended school in Gardiner, where he participated in all things sports related as a battling Bruin. Chad was also a member of the Paradise Experimenters 4-H Club where he learned the value of raising and caring for livestock. After graduation, Chad attended Universal Technical Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, gaining the skills and knowledge he would later use to build a successful career in mechanics. He was a gifted mechanic who could work his way with ease through any problem. Chad enjoyed ranching and loved being a hunting guide for the family outfitting business. Many a hunter bagged their dream bull with Chad’s guiding expertise.
In 2009 Chad moved to his own ranch west of Livingston. There he passed on his knowledge of ranching and mechanics to his three children as they brought his ranch to peak production. His deep love for farming and equipment, especially Cat dozers, kept him always on the go.
Chad’s long friendship with Stacey Adams blossomed into a lifelong love. He and Stacey shared a love of the ranch and worked together to make it a happy home. Chad demonstrated his talent, creativity, and love for Stacey by creating many original useful gifts for her.
He is survived by his three children Mariah (Mason Webster), Kyle and Madison “Cole” Malcolm, his partner Stacey Adams, children, Briley Stark (Francisco Deniz), Tom (Kyrstie) Stark, grandchildren Rahelynn, Maddox, Micha Stark, his mother Connie, sister Sandy (Jim) Morgan, and their children Jake and Eva, and his faithful to the end companions, Zimmy and Tully. He is preceded in death by his son Tyler and his dad Bruce.
Chad’s kindness, selfless love for friends and family and joking humor will be greatly missed- we will always be waiting for the punch line! We love you and you will be missed.
A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Church in Emigrant at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday December 18, 2022 with a coffee hour to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the giver’s charity of choice.
