Father Dale Evan Yurkovic, 62, of Las Vegas, Nevada and Billings, Montana former longtime Pastor at St. Marys Catholic Church in Livingston, Montana passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at the Nathan Adelson Hospice House in Las Vegas, Nevada with loved ones at his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, 12 Noon, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Livingston with Vigil Prayer service to be held Monday, 7 P.M. at St. Marys. Graveside committal and burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Livingston. Memorials are preferred to: Catholic Charities, 1501 Las Vegas Blvd N.; Las Vegas, NV 89101. Dale was born on April 13, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Steven and Lillian (Markevicus) Yurkovic. He received his education at St. Jerome Parochial School and was a graduate of the Collinwood High School Class of 1970. After receiving training as a chef, he worked as a cook on the Great Lakes ore boats until he was called to Montana to continue his education at Montana State University in Billings .After graduation he worked in consoling troubled youth in Glasgow Mt. It was there that he discerned his call to the priesthood. He attended St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein, IL. He was ordained a priest at St. Mary Church in Livingston on June 12, 1991, where he was assigned as associate pastor. He remained at St. Marys and was named pastor in 1996, and in 2004 he also took on duties as pastor of St. Joseph Church in Big Timber, MT. He served as diocesan Vocation Director from 1993 through 2008. He was assigned to serve as pastor of St. Jude Thaddeus Church in Havre, MT, from 2009 to 2011. Dale has been struggling with health issues since his departure from Havre. He was diagnosed with brain cancer and diverticulitis and has been fighting it since early July at the cancer treatment center in Zion, IL. Father Dale was a charismatic, kind, outgoing, high-energy and a friend to all. He was such as a Priest and yet such a man. He made an impact on so many that had the opportunity of being touched by his kind ways. He worked tirelessly at maintaining our churches, St. Mary's school and Calvary Cemetery. The Park County community is forever blessed to of had Father Dale as a member of our community. Dale is survived by his: Brother, Kenneth Yurkovic and Ken's wife, Carole of Painsville, OH. Two nieces and a nephew, Dawn, Lisa and Steven. Uncle Richard Marks and his wife Aunt Jean of South Euclid, OH. Other relatives and many, many friends. Dale is preceded in death by his Parents, Steven and Lillian Yurkovic and Brother, Ray Yurkovic who passed Oct. 22, 1974. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston.
