Daniel Norbert Herauf, age 66, passed away at Livingston Healthcare on September 10, 2024 surrounded by family after a long, hard battle with cancer, which he faced with determination to beat and always a sense of humor.
Daniel was born on August 28, 1958 in Big Timber, Montana to Norbert and Joyce (Banfield) Herauf. Dan attended all of his education in Livingston. He worked in the concrete and masonry field for 35 years. When his health no longer would allow such strenuous work, he enjoyed making wild game sausage at Yellowstone Wild Game Processing for a few years. His passions were petrified wood and rock collecting, fishing, and reading.
Dan lived in Savage, Montana, for a short time where he met Deanna Boyce Cale. They married in Glendive on March 21, 1983. To that union, one child was born in February of 1985, Jay Daniel.
Dan is survived by his wife Deanna, son Jay, parents Norbert and Joyce, sisters Diane, Donna, Darlene (Dion), and Doris, brothers Doug, Dale, and Dwight, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws, and his good friend Joe Eggar.
Dan did not want a funeral, but a happy gathering for friends and family to celebrate his life. The gathering will be at the Elks Lodge in Livingston on September 28, 2024 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
