David Allen Phillips, 52, of Livingston, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at his familys cabin on Goat Mountain, northwest of Wilsall. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory, no formal funeral is planned. Daves cremains will be scattered with those of his mother at the cabin on Goat Mountain. Memorials are preferred to: Livingston Food Pantry, 112 N M Street or Stafford Animal Shelter 3 Business Park Road. Dave was born on January 30, 1962, in Livingston, Montana. He was the son of William "Bill" and Carol A. (Denesen) Phillips. He received his education in Livingston and was a graduate of the Park High School Class of 1980. Following school Dave took jobs as a carpenter in Arizona, California and Washington D.C. He returned to Livingston a few years later and began a career working for the City of Livingston. He was employed for twenty some years as a Sanitation Engineer. Dave was a good ole boy who enjoyed the company of others and had made many a friend; most notably Dr. Jim Allison, Dwight Haines and Bob Fredericks and too many others to list. He loved the solitude of the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and hiking any chance he had. He and his brother enjoyed many trips backpacking together all over Montana. He loved music and had a talent for playing the guitar. Blessed be his memory. Dave is survived by his: His Father, Bill Phillips of Livingston; Brother, Trevor Phillips of Burlington, WY and a Nephew, Casey Purcell of Livingston. Grandmother, Shirley Denesen of Livingston, Uncles, Jim Denesen and his wife Sandy of Livingston and James Phillips and his wife Gale of Pitkin, LA. Many other relatives and friends. Dave is preceded in death by his Mother, Carol Phillips, Aunt and Uncle Larry and Janet (Denesen) Marshall, Maternal Grandpa, Richard Denesen, and Paternal Grandparents, Stanley and Johnnie Phillips. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
