Donald LeRoy Juhnke

Donald LeRoy Juhnke, age 84, of Livingston, passed away unexpectedly Friday, January 03, 2014 at Livingston HealthCare. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, January 7, 11 am, at the Livingston Christian Center, 1400 Mt. Baldy Drive, with Pastor Dr. Duane Huie officiating. Fellowship will directly follow the service at the Church. Interment will take place at the Mountain View Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Livingston American Legion and V.F.W. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice. Donald was born on September 25, 1929, in Park County, Livingston, Montana. He was the son of Otto F. and Lettie (Smith) Juhnke. Donald was born the third of eleven children. He was a lifetime resident of Livingston spending his entire life here except for the four years he was in the Navy. Donald entered active military service in the United States Navy on October 20, 1948 and served his country proudly as he loved being in the Navy. He received an Honorable Discharge on October 17, 1952. While away on leave Donald met Joyce Marie McCormack. They were married in New York on June 7, 1952. After his honorable discharge from the Navy they moved to Livingston. This marriage was blessed with 5 children, David, Donna, Maureen, Judy and Matthew Jay. Donald was employed by various ranches, Downers Lumber Co. and the United States Forest Service as a Trail Maintenance Engineer. Following his retirement from the U.S. Forest Service he worked security for Brand-S Lumber. Donald was a proud and supporting member of The American Legion and V.F.W. in Livingston. Don enjoyed the outdoors. To find him truly happy all you needed is to give him a rod and put him by water so he could fish. He had taken many photos of the fish he had caught. He also took great pride in keeping-up his lawn. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. Blessed be his memory. Donald is survived by his: Children, David Juhnke and his wife, Gail of Livingston, MT, Donna Kraft of Livingston, MT, Maureen Schnobrich and her husband, Michael of St. Anthony, ID, Judy Roy and her husband, Steve of Livingston, MT, Matthew Jay and his wife Treva of Livingston, MT. 12 Grandchildren, 32 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great grandchild. Brothers, Jerry, Hugh, Dick and Bill. Sisters, Phyllis, Dorothy, Lois and Beverly. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Donald is preceded in death by his Parents, Otto and Lettie Juhnke, Loving Wife, Joyce, Son-in-law John Kraft, Brother, Howard and Sister, Oneida. The family invites everyone to a luncheon at the church immediately following the memorial service the interment will follow the luncheon. Arrangements are under the direction of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
