Dorothy Malcolm, age 95, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in Clayton, New Mexico. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, November 25, at the Paradise Valley Community Church Livingston, Montana with Rev. Harlan Durgan officiating. Burial will follow in the Shorthill Cemetery. Dorothy Helen Malcolm was born on January 5, 1918 in Glasgow, Montana to Dave Anderson and Helen (Zick) Anderson. She grew up on the family ranch in McCone County, Montana. Dorothy attended school in Frazer, Montana and graduated in 1936 as the valedictorian of her class. Together with her best friend Francis (Shannon) Allen, they went to Dillon, Montana where she attended Montana State Normal College where she graduated in 1940 with a teaching degree. Dorothy taught at five, one-room schools throughout Montana. Her friend Francis encouraged her to come teach in Paradise Valley, Montana. While teaching at her fourth school in Paradise Valley she met her future husband Orlin "Bricks" Malcolm. They were married on June 16, 1943 in Paradise Valley. Dorothy became a very busy ranch wife in helping with all the livestock, gardening and cooking. She was a charter member of the Paradise Valley Community Church and taught many Sunday School classes as well as Vacation Bible School. When her oldest son David was injured in an accident she, with her enormous faith in Jesus, became a loving caregiver to him. Her husband Bricks died in 1991 and Dorothy remained on the ranch for several months before she and her son David moved to Livingston, Montana. They moved to Clayton, New Mexico in June of 2011 to live with her daughter Kathryn. She was a member of the Lariat CowBelles. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband and parents. Dorothy is survived by her: 2 Sons: David Malcolm of Clayton, New Mexico and Donald Malcolm and his wife Laura of San Remo, Itay. 1 Daughter: Kathryn Malcolm-Callis of Clayton, New Mexico. 1 Granddaughter: Kaitlyn Martinez and her husband Simon of Borger, Texas. 1 Great-grandson: Lorenzo Martinez of Borger, Texas. 1 Sister: Gloria Busse of Circle, Montana. Numerous nieces and nephews other relatives and friends. And her Earthly Angel: Jane Arellano of Clayton, New Mexico.
