Dorothy Jean Werle Schleicher passed away at 92 years of age.
Dorothy was born and raised in Livingston. As a premature baby, a hot brick crib was used as an incubator. She loved telling stories about working in Livingston at the Joy Land Fountain and the Livingston telephone office. Dorothy met Earl Schleicher, the love of her life, at a dance and they never spent another day apart except when Earl fought in the Korean War. They were married for over 70 years until Earl's passing in 2021. Dorothy was an avid reader, reading two or three books a week since she learned to read.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Hap and Minnie Werle and by her brother Bob. She is survived by her son Bob, special niece Denise Werle and nieces and nephews, longtime friend Jackie Fuher, great friend Mary Strong as well as Lucy the rescued rat terrier and the always rambunctious cocker spaniel, Joey who was always by her side. Special thanks to LFD, Nurse Bri, Nurse Meghan and Compassus hospice.
Dorothy will be dearly missed. Memorials may be made to the Livingston Public Library. Services pending, please check back for further information.
