Elton Russell Balcom

Elton Russell Balcom, 81, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Elton was born on September 21, 1939, in Niagara Falls, New York, the son of Russell and Jennie Balcom. He received his education in Barker, NY, and was a graduate of the Barker Central High School Class of 1957. Elton entered military service in the United States Marine Corps on November 5, 1957. He was a graduate of the Marine Corps Aviation School and served in Japan and the Philippines. He received the Good Conduct Medal and was Honorably Discharged on November 3, 1961. Following his military service, Elton attended the Erie County Technical Institute in Buffalo, NY, and obtained a degree in Drafting. Elton was united in marriage to Carol Kendall on June 6, 1964, at Emmanuel Methodist Church in Lockport, NY. This marriage was blessed with 2 children, Jeff and Tracy. Elton, Carol, and their children resided in Barker, NY, Colorado, and Nebraska, before their final move to Montana, the place they've called home for the last 35 years. Elton and Carol shared 57 years of marriage. Elton was employed as an aircraft mechanic, machinist and Ag Pilot. He retired in 2014. Elton and Carol attended Wilsall Community Church in Wilsall, Montana. Elton was a beloved member of the Wilsall Community and will be greatly missed. Elton enjoyed maintaining the Veteran's Park in Wilsall and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. Elton is survived by his wife, Carol; son, Jeff (Tera); daughter, Tracy (Darin); and 5 grandchildren. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has assisted the family.
