Essie Evelyn (Martin) Johnson, 90 of Livingston, Montana. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and faithful friend of many, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Livingston surrounded by her family. A viewing will be on Saturday, Oct. 3rd held one hour prior to the graveside service at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home (118 N 3rd St). Please meet at Franzen-Davis on Saturday, 2:00 P.M. to proceed to Mountain View Cemetery for the graveside committal service and burial. Please join the family following the graveside service at Franzen-Davis for coffee and cookies. Essie was born November 17, 1924 to Lewis Andrew and Cora Maude (Culp) Bowen in Columbus, Montana. She was the youngest of nine children. Essie moved with her family at an early age to Clyde Park and then to Wilsall attending Horse Creek School. Essie enjoyed her young life on the farm. On April 4, 1941,Essie married Pierre (Sandy) Alvin Martin. Their three children were born in Livingston, Montana. Essie was a quiet, gentle woman. She loved being a mother to her three children, raising them with constant love and gentle guidance. She loved her family! She was proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Two years after Sandys death, Essie married Hallard Johnson. They enjoyed fishing, dancing and traveling. Essie lived in the same house in Livingston for over 60 years. Essie was a member of the Livingston Saddle Club, Park County Pioneers, Livingston Senior Citizens and the Methodist Church. She enjoyed the last four years with the residents and staff at the Caslen Living Center here in Livingston. Essie enjoyed a good cup of coffee, knitting blankets, embroidering, gardening, putting puzzles together, playing board games, fishing, canning and camping. She was quite the fisherwomen, often out fishing both of her husbands. She loved the joy and love that the Christmas holidays would bring. Essie was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her husbands, Sandy Martin and Hallard Johnson and her oldest daughter Cora Lee Seib. She is survived by her: son, Stan Martin and his wife, Mary, daughter, Linda Garner and her husband Rich; 6 wonderful grandchildren and 16 precious great-grandchildren; a son-in-law Bill Seib; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Memorials are preferred to the Holbrook United Methodist Church: 424 W Lewis St, Livingston. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston.
