Gavin E. Peck D.V.M.

Gavin E. Peck D.V.M., 37, of Wilsall, Montana passed away on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016. A memorial funeral service was held on Saturday, November 19th, 3:00 P.M. at the Shields Valley Elementary School, it was followed by a social gathering. Memorials are preferred to his children, 2520 US-89, Wilsall, MT 59086. Gavin was born on September 23rd, 1979, in Reno, Nevada. He was the son of Robert Peck and Mary Beth (Murphy). He received his elementary education in Salmon, Idaho. The family moved to Darby, Montana where Gavin was a graduate of the Darby Community Christian School class of 1998. He furthered his education at Montana Tech with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Chemistry. He then attended Montana State University in Bozeman obtaining his Masters Degree in Entomology. On December 31st, 2001, Gavin was united in marriage to Jessie Waltz, at Calvary Church in Butte. Following their marriage Jess began Veterinary school at St. Georges University, while accompanying her, Gavin also took an interest in Veterinary Medicine. He attended St. Georges University, School of Veterinary Medicine, Grenada; he took a year of additional study at Oregon State and his graduation was in New York City on June 2nd, 2009. Gavin had always felt his greatest accomplishment in his life were his three beautiful children, Joy, Faith and Cor. Gavin and Jess bought the Sage Trail Veterinary Clinic from Bob Sager in 2009. Jess worked the small animal side and Gavin the large. They had operated the clinic until their recent separation. Gavin was gifted with a tenderness that translated into a caring and respectful bedside manner with both his clients and the animals he served. He was a people person, enjoying small talk and the relationships he made within the community. He had a strong Christian faith, studied the Bible and knew his God. He enjoyed nature from the time he was a young man. He would hike to observe nature, would hunt to provide meat for his family and respected the life that the animal would give. Above all else he held the love of his children dear to him. Blessed are our memories of Gavin, as we know he is in the arms of his Lord. He is survived by his: children, Joy, Faith and Cor. His father, Robert "Bob" Peck and his wife, Luci of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Jennifer Sherman and her husband, Trevor of Seattle, WA; step-sister, Amber Birch and her husband, Shaun and step-brother, Evan Van Sickle both of Idaho Falls, ID; paternal grandparents, Joan and Bud Peck of Pendleton, OR; as well as, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends. Gavin is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Beth Peck and maternal grandparents, Ethel and Louis "Murph" Murphy. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston.
