Gerald James "Jerry" Johnson, 92, a lifelong Livingston resident, passed away July 15, 2021, of natural causes at his home of 67 years with his family by his side. Jerry was born July 21, 1928, to Frank and Alma Johnson. In 1950, he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War. He served two years and was transferred to the Army Reserve, then honorably discharged in 1956. Jerry was employed by Chaney's Plumbing and Heating for more than 40 years, retiring in 1990. Jerry met Janie Fries at Chaney's and they were married April 12, 1953. They had three daughters, Debra, Doreen, and Barbara, whom he always called his "Tweetie Pies". Jerry was an avid sportsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and camping with family and friends. Jerry was proud to be a Korean War veteran and long-time member of the American Legion Tommy Ray Post 23 in Livingston, serving in the Honor Guard, and as Historian for many years. Jerry was also very proud of belonging to the SMART Union for over 45 years. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Janie; daughter Doreen Olson; his parents; and siblings, Ruth Sontag, Lyle, Eunice, Hallard, Kenneth, Geraldine Dube (his twin), and Eldon; sons-in-law, Tim Zander and K.C. Romans; grandsons, Tom Romans and Brian Day; and brothers-in-law, Jerrold Fries and Bruce Oakes. Jerry is survived by his daughters, Debra (Phil) Day, and Barbara Romans; grandchildren, Nicole Zander (Aaron), Stephanie Olson, Kevin, Jonathan, and Andrew Romans, and Greg (Kaye) Day; great-grandchildren. Abigail, Gabrielle, and Emily Romans, Chloe Romans, Alexis and Brianne Ewan, Jasmine Olson and Sebastian Griffith, and Makayla and Matthew Day; sister-in-law, Daisy (Bob) Ruhland; and several nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will be having a private ceremony as per Jerry's wishes.
