Gladys Frost

Gladys Frost, 98, of Lander Wyoming, formerly of Livingston, Montana passed away Tuesday January 27, 2015 at Westward Heights Care Center in Lander. A Funeral Service will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, February 7, at the First Baptist Church (202 East Lewis Street) with Reverend Daniel Abrams officiating. Fellowship will follow the interment. Graveside committal and burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery. A time of viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are preferred to: First Baptist Church of Livingston. Gladys was born on August 4, 1916, in Centralia, Missouri. She was the daughter of Andrew Mack and Maida Florence (Fainot) Swaby. She received her education on the Crow Agency and in Hardin, MT. She graduated from Hardin High School. In 1929, Gladys was united in marriage to Frank "Benny" West in Hardin. This marriage was blessed with two children, Albert L. West and Wallace L. West. Gladys and Benny moved to Livingston in1943. Benny died in 1957 and Gladys worked as a sales clerk for both J.C. Penney and Coast to Coast for nine years. Gladys married Dick Frost on May 27, 1966 in Livingston. Gladys and Dick owned and operated the Springdale Mercantile until 1979. Dick died in 1988. Gladys moved to Livingston in 1989. In 2000 Gladys moved to Lander Wyoming to be cared for by her son Wally and his wife Kyleen. Gladys was an extremely devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Livingston and loved the Lord. She served as the church clerk for many years. She was also a member of the Kilkare Klub of Springdale and the Park County Senior Citizens. She enjoyed handiwork, housekeeping and gardening, especially her yard work. She was a talented seamstress and an amazing cook. She could turn leftovers into a 5 star meal. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends. Gladys was a "grassroots" woman. She could have bought anything she would have wanted but you would have found her sewing her dresses together. Her strong spirit lives on in her admiring family. Blessed be her memory. Gladys is survived by her: Son, Albert West, and his companion, Arlene Warren of Billings, MT; Alberts children, Scott West and his wife Rebecca, their children, Myra and Andrew; Susan Anderson and her husband David, their children, Felicia and Erica; Sherri Matthews and her husband Johnny; their children, Cory and Alyia. Son. Wally West and his wife, Kyleen of Lander, WY; Wally and Kyleens children, Carl West and his wife, Melissa, their children, Morgan, Aspen, Savanna and Kennedy; LeAnn Starr and her husband Stephen, their son, Kyle; Steven West and Keith West. A Sister-in-law, Jane Swaby of Billings, MT. Many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Gladys is preceded in death by her Parents, Andrew and Maida Swaby, her first husband, Franklin Cornelius West and second husband Dick Frost, daughter-in-law, Naomi West in 2006 and all of her siblings, Albert Swaby, J.H. Swaby, Russell G. Swaby, Francis M. Swaby and Olive Worley. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
