Harold Shorthill, Jr.

Harold Shorthill, 88 of Livingston, Montana passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Billings Clinic in Billings, MT. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. A Memorial Funeral Service will be held 11 am, Saturday, April 18, at Pine Creek United Methodist Church. Fellowship will follow the service at the church, and graveside committal and interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery following fellowship with Veterans Honors by American Legion Park Post #23 and the Active Duty Navy honors team. Memorials may be made to: Pine Creek Methodist Church (2468 E River Road Livingston, MT 59047) or donors choice. Harold was born on October 27, 1926 in Livingston, Montana. He was the son of Harold Sr. and Hazel (Wampler) Shorthill. He received his education in Livingston and was a graduate of Park High School Class of 1944. Harold entered active military service in the United States NAVY in January of 1945, and served his country during WWII. He served on the NTS in San Diego, CA, USNH Memphis, TN, and PSC USNB Bremerton, WA. He received the American Area Campaign medal and WWII Victory medal. He was Honorably Discharged in April of 1946. Harold was united in marriage to Carol Jane Cernohlavek. Harold and Jane had two children, Janice Carol and Michael Charles. In December of 1968 Harold married Dale Jean "Mickey" Scott. They shared 45 years of marriage. Harold ranched in Paradise Valley on the Shorthill Home Place. He came from a pioneer family, one of the 1st in the Valley. He was the 4th generation to work the ranch. Harold was a lifelong active member of Pine Creek United Methodist Church and really enjoyed helping put on Pine Creeks annual Harvest Sale. He especially enjoyed helping make their apple cider. Harold loved fly fishing and playing golf with Mickey He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends. Harold is survived by his Daughter, Jan Shorthill of Billings, MT, her Son, Quincy Shorthill and his Wife Jackie, their children, Maxton and Juliana Shorthill; Daughter-in-law, Joyce Shorthill of Fort Collins, CO her Daughters, Madison and Samantha Shorthill. Many other relatives and friends. Harold is preceded in death by his loving Wife of 45 years, Mickey; Son, Mike Shorthill and Parents Harold Sr. and Hazel Shorthill.
