Helen Osen, 90, of Livingston, Montana, passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014, at the Diamond-K Lodge with her loved ones at her side. Helen was born on May 7, 1924, in Reed Point, MT, the youngest of eight children of Norwegian immigrants Carl and Ragnhild (Lende) Mysse. She was raised on the family ranch and graduated from high school in 1942 and then attended Anderson Beauty College in Billings. Helen married Tom Osen on October 26, 1946, in Big Timber and they made their home in Livingston. Helen worked at the Sanitary Beauty Shop until the arrival of her first child, Tommy, in 1955. Helen was a devoted wife, loving mother, and special grandmother. Her seven grandchildren cherished their time with her and will remember her forever. In 1967 they built on their "5 Acre Tract" Osens Drive Thru Campground. They owned and operated the campground from 1968 until 1998. Many lifelong friendships were made from the countless campers that stayed weeks on end, planning to spend just one night. Helen enjoyed crafts of all kinds. She liked to crochet, knit, sew, and from her sisters she learned to master hardanger. Helen also enjoyed baking and cooking for her family, friends and church gatherings. She always grew an enormous garden and picked raspberries every season by the gallons. Helen was a member of American Lutheran Church, Mountain Swinger Square Dance Club, Park County Pioneer Society, and Livingston Red Hats. She is survived by two sons, Tom and wife Patti of Eagar, AZ; Don and wife Annette of Bozeman; one daughter, Kathleen, also of Bozeman; seven grandchildren: Thomas, Dawnette, Mariette (Ethan) Rintoul, Juliette, Allan, Giovann, and Timothy; sister in laws: Helen Mysse, Barbara Osen, Sally Severin; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Tom, Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ragnhild (Randy) Mysse; three brothers, Donald, Jack, and Robert Mysse; and four sisters, Ella Hillard, Kristine Solberg, Dorothy Langhus, and Agnes Vink. To accommodate family travel, a memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Lutheran Church (129 S. F Street) in Livingston, MT. Pastor Steve Paugh Leuzinger will officiate. A fellowship gathering will follow the service at American Lutheran. Helens family expresses their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff at the Diamond K Lodge for their care and compassion for Helen these past two years and to Livingston Healthcares Hospice in her final hours. Blessed are we. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
