Jack Harrison Bauer, 91, of Livingston, Montana, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019. Cremation has taken place and per Jacks wishes his cremated remains will be scattered in a place very special to him.Jack was born on March 17, 1928 in Missoula, Montana to Walter and Alma (Ferris) Bauer.He was educated in Missoula area schools and enlisted in the Navy at age 17 near the end of World War II. He served on a destroyer in the South Pacific, Japan and Korea and was honorably discharged in 1948.In July 1953, Jack married Patricia Hanson, a union that was blessed with two sons (John and Jeffery). In 1975 he married Margaret Young-Ingram to whom he remained married to until his death.Upon his discharge from the Navy Jack began working for the Northern Pacific Railway in Livingston. During his 36-year railroad career he worked a variety of craft assignments in Livingston and several managerial positions in Livingston, West Burlington, Iowa and Vancouver, Washington, including his tenure as Master Mechanic in Livingston.Jack was an avid outdoorsman who loved the diverse nature of the Montana hunting and fishing scene, be it elk, deer, ducks, geese or trout fishing throughout the state. In his spare time, he took care of the garden and his cars.In 1963, Jack bagged a record setting seven-point elk in the Gallatin Valley. At the time, this elk was the 10th largest ever harvested in Montana and 26th largest world-wide.Jack also enjoyed deep sea fishing, with one of his prized catches being a 120-pound Tarpon caught off the coast of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico.He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jeffery; sister, Betty; brother, Bill; grandsons, Alan and Kayle; and granddaughter, Alona.Jack is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, John; stepsons, Craig and Cole Ingram; granddaughters, Amber Williams and Capri Foseid; grandsons, Andrew and Zachary; great-grandsons, Alec, Adrian; and great-granddaughters, Aleah and Hazel, other relatives and many friends.
