He was the son of Daniel Bauer Sr. and Theresa (Lynch). The family moved to Livingston while Jack was young; he received his education in Livingston and was a graduate of the Park High School Class of 1989. Following graduation Jack worked for the railroad for a short time. He entered active military service in the United States NAVY on August 22, 1990 and served his country during Operation Desert Storm on a destroyer, the U.S.S. Underwood, stationed in the Gulf. He was an Electrical/Mechanical Equipment Repairman. He received an Honorable Discharge on June 18, 1992 and was awarded the Southeast Asia Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal/Sea Time. After returning from the Navy Jack took on construction work in Alaska as a carpenter. Jack was blessed with a daughter while living in Alaska, Norma Gene. Jack worked in Alaska for five years before returning to Livingston. On February 11, 2006 Jack was united in marriage to Rene Thornton, in Elgin, North Dakota. Jack was again blessed with a daughter, Brooke before their divorce. Jack resided in Livingston working as a ranch hand as his father did before him. He worked at several ranches in the area. It was a perfect fit for him as he was a horseman through and through. He was a talented welder and drove cattle and grain truck as well. He loved all animals especially his horse, Flash, and his dog, Stormy, who by the way to our amazement and embarrassment would come up behind us in the brush with a cow that we missed. He rode many a mile with both of them. He will be remembered for his kind ways and his gentle soul. Our peace is with you Jack. Blessed be his memory. Jack is survived by his: Daughters, Norma Gene Cobb of Wasilla, AK and Brooke Bauer and her mother Rene Bauer of Washburn, ND.
