Jean Egeland, 89, of Livingston, Montana, passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020, at home.Jean Ellen Egeland was born to Robert and Rose (Sherman) McWhirk on March 27 1931 in Corvallis, Montana. She lost her parents at a very young age and was subsequently adopted by Milton and Mae Dewing when she was two and a half years old. She was then raised by her grandparents, George and Marybelle Martin. She Married Gilbert Thomas Egeland on April 28, 1951, and they had four children: Michael Lane (Nancy), Martin Blake (Wasna), Mark Allen (Helen), and Marjean Rose (Scott) Stubbert. Although she struggled with mental illness all her life, she accomplished many things. She was a talented artist, had a beautiful singing voice, and was a successful hunter and fisherman. She was an accomplished seamstress and crocheted numerous king-size afghans. A passion of hers was wild birds. She loved watching them and talked about them all the time. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and one son. She is survived by children Mike, Mark, and Marjean as well as 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside gathering will be held at a later date. Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
