Jeanne W. McCowan

January 18, 1942 — September 6, 2017

Jeanne W. (Rak) McCowan, 75, formerly of Avon Lake, Ohio, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2017 at her daughters home in Emigrant, Montana. Jeanne graduated in 1959 from Avon Lake High School and was a long-time resident in Ohio, living part of her life with her three daughters in Honolulu, Hawaii, spending her last year of life in the mountains of Paradise Valley, Montana. Jeanne was a retired R.N. with a passion for music and animals and loved her cats, having rescued strays throughout her life and given many a forever home. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents Vincent Rak and Jessie (Fisher) Rak. She is survived by her three daughters, Sheryl McKain of Diamond, Ohio; Michele McCowan of Emigrant, Montana; and Jennifer Hertelendy of Mason, Ohio; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; her brother Thomas Rak of Vermillion, Ohio; sister Betty Kunes of Sheffield Village, Ohio: and sister Susan MacGillis of Wellington, Ohio. Arrangements were handled by Franzen-Davis Funeral Home in Livingston, Montana. Cremation has taken place, and per Jeannes wishes, there will not be a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions for the continued care of Jeannes cats who will remain at Mountain Angels Sanctuary in Montana, with her daughter, Michele.
