Jessie Louise (Ritchey) Schultz

December 17, 1922 — August 17, 2015

Jessie Louise (Ritchey) Schultz, of Bozeman, formerly of Lewistown, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2015, at her residence at Highgate Senior Living at the age of 92. Jessie was born in Livingston, MT, on December 14, 1922, to Lee and Marty Ritchey, the local bakery shop owners. She was the oldest of four children. Jessie graduated from Montana State College. While attending college, she met her future husband, James "Jim" M. Schultz, and married Jim April 8, 1945. When Jim took a job as a Vocational Education teacher at Fergus County High School in Lewistown, MT, they thought that move was only a stepping stone on their path. The move turned into a lifelong stay in Lewistown where they raised their three children, August "Gus" Lee, Gail Francis, and James "Jim" Russell. Upon retirement in 1987, Jessie and Jim spent their time between a winter home in Florence, AZ, and a summer home on Holter Lake, MT. They worked together, along with their kids, to build their home on Holter Lake. It became the place of many family reunions and vacations and a place where the grandchildren came to play. In their retirement journey, they discovered golf and proceeded to travel the Northwest, playing golf course to golf course. Jessie had a long, rich and fulfilling life and will be missed by those whose life she touched. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her brother Bob, and her sisters Marge and Helen. She is survived by her children and their families, son, Gus Schultz and Andrea Wolcott of Salt Lake City, UT and their daughters, Michelle and Melanie; daughter, Gail Fuller and her husband, Wayne of Raleigh NC, and their daughters Jill and April, and son, Jim Schultz and wife, Marlene Kennedy of Gallatin Gateway, and their daughter Hallie. Jessie is also survived by five great-grandchildren. The family extends their gratitude to Rocky Mountain Hospice, the care provided by Matt Sonnek, the hospice caretaker, and the staff and caretakers at Highgate Senior Living. Memorial contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Foundation in Jessies name. Contributions can be made through the funeral home, PO Box 638; Livingston, MT 59047. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory. A graveside service will be held in Lewistown at a future date. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory in Livingston.
