Jo Ann Dixson, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 24th, 2021, in her home in Livingston, Montana. Jo was born November 29th, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Harvey and Ruth Eckman. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1969 and obtained her cosmetology license through the International Institute of Hair Design in 1972, which enabled her to have her own salon from 1979 to 1990. She was a caretaker at heart who took in her adopted daughters at a young age through marriage. Then years later, after meeting the love of her life, Dickie, nursed him through his passing. Her favorite thing in the world was spending time with her grandchildren. Playing games, going to movies, and making lunch dates were her activities of choice. She was a stealthy cribbage player who passed on her mad skills to her daughter and grandchildren. There was usually a puzzle on her table in between her "to do piles" that she could be found working on. She was an avid gardener her whole life and could spend hours pulling those "damn weeds". No matter how small of an area she had to work with, there would always be a variety of flowers, fruits and vegetables to fill every space. Her skills in the kitchen were a force to be reckoned with. It was amazing how she could make the most delicious meals from anything she had on hand. Jo always joked about having 9 lives and boy did she ever! She was a spitfire who came back with a force after every close call, of which there were plenty in the last decade of life. But sure enough, she spat in the face of death right up until this last time. Jo leaves behind her daughter, Bethany (John) Rosa; daughters Diana (Doug) Rau and Brigette Murphy; grandchildren Cassie, Abby, Sami and Izzy Rosa; siblings, Gary (Sherry) Eckman, Kathy (Paul) Osborn, Ginger (Devon) Riggs; and numerous others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ruth Eckman; husband, Dick "Dickie" Dixson; daughter Michelle Brownstein; siblings, Claudia Hamer and Debbie Lipsey.A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., at Memorial Mortuary and Cemetery, 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
