Jody Lee Laird 49 of Emigrant, Montana died in an auto accident on Wednesday, August 1, 2018. Jody was born in Baker, Oregon on Dec. 15, 1968 to Ron and Susi Laird. He was the 4th generation of a family ranching business in Oregon. He graduated from high school in Gresham, Oregon; the class of 1987. He later moved to Montana in 1992 to work for Bears Den Outfitters. He was currently managing D & D West Greenhouse with his mother, Susi.In June 2006 he married Katie Magavern at Pine Creek in Livingston, Montana. In 2007 they were blessed with a son, Jason Laird. They later divorced.Jody enjoyed anything outdoors. The mountains were his sanctuary. He loved hunting and the Montana rivers for fishing and floating. Jody had a special take charge attitude for a string of horses and mules, while using his humor and gift of gab to his outfitting clients.Jody brought a smile to many and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.Jody is survived by his son, Jason Laird, step-son, Jackson Bredenberg, and former wife, Katie Laird. Mother, Susi and her husband, Kirk Chadwick, all of Emigrant, Montana; brother, Randi Volskey and family; sister, Rochelle Buck and her family of Mansfield, Texas. As well as his large family of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.He was preceded in death by his father, Ron Laird, brother, Jason Laird, grandparents, Bill and Freddi Volskey and Bob and Georgia Laird.The family memorial and burial will take place Labor Day 2018 in Halfway, Oregon. Celebration of life for Jody will be held at Katie Lairds house August 7, 2018 at 16 Gemini Rd. Emigrant, Montana.In lieu of flowers-donations for a scholarship fund for Jason Laird can be made at Bank of the Rockies in Emigrant.Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
