John Max Hartman, 68, of Clyde Park, Montana, passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Vincents Healthcare in Billings with his wife at his side. Viewing will be Saturday, November 14th, at Franzen-Davis (118 N 3rd Street) from 4-7 P.M. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, November 15th, 1:00 P.M., at the Franzen-Davis Chapel in Livingston. Graveside Committal Service and burial will be at the Shorthill Cemetery and Veterans Honors, which will be provided by Park Post #23 American Legion and Active Duty Marines Honors Team. A fellowship luncheon will follow the burial at the Yellowstone Pioneer Lodge, the pool area, 1515 West Park Street, Livingston. He was born to Malcolm Max and Lucille 'Bleth' Hartman on November 24th, 1946 in Livingston, MT. He spent his life in the Livingston area where he attended Park High School. After his sophomore year of high school. John joined the United States Marine Corps where he finished his high school education by completing the GED program. He was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1968, After serving in the Vietnam Conflict. Upon his return to Livingston he met his loving wife Alice of 45 years. They were wed July 22nd, 1970 and had two children John Jacob and Jeremiah James. John Max worked for the Burlington Northern Rail Road at the Livingston Rail Road yard as a hostler helper until his retirement in 1982. John Max was an active member of the American Legion post 23, National Rifle Assoc., Gold Prospectors of America, and Seventh Day Adventist Church. He is remembered by his wife, Alice, mother, Lucille Ayers, sisters, Nancy Jarvis, and Maxie Young both of Glendive; as well as his sons, John and Jeremiah and grandchildren, Dylan, Daniel, Rylan, Lance and Rebecca as well as many friends and relatives. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
