Kenneth Carmen "Buck" Proffitt, 87, of Ripon, California, formerly of Livingston, MT passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018 at his home with his daughter, Voni at his side. Cremation has taken place. Kenneth was born December 16, 1930 at Livingston, Montana to Peyton Marlow and Lola Olga (VanDolah) Proffitt. He was one of ten siblings. He spent his early years on the family homestead up Brackett Creek helping raise around four to five thousand head of sheep. He received his education in Livingston, graduating from Park County High School in 1950. He was especially proud of playing at PCHS for the State Class A Championship football team in 1947 against Miles City with a wind chill factor of minus 47 degrees.He worked twenty nine years for the Yellowstone Dairy in Livingston, bottling and delivering milk and also making lots of ice cream. For a short time, he worked for Roys Market before working as a custodian at the Middle School (the old PCHS) until it burnt down.He married Charlene Joann Simonsen on September 23, 1950. To this union three children were born. Charlene passed away in 1978. He married Martha Maedche in 1979 and moved to Puyallup, Washington in 1987. Martha passed away in 2010, he then moved to Ripon, California to live with his daughter and son-in-law, Voni and Bob Chendorani.Ken was a member of the Moose Lodge, Big Sky Snow Riders and the Livingston Round-up Association. He had held offices with each of these organizations.He was preceded in death by his parents, Peyton and Lola Proffitt; sisters and brothers, Lorraine, Marlow "Bud", Jim, twins Melvin "Sonny" and Melva "Sis", Chuck and both wives.He is survived by his three children, Vicki (Jack) Sams of Newport, Washington, K.C. (Sue) Proffitt of Wellington, Colorado and Voni (Bob) Chendorani of Ripon, California; four grandchildren, Kim Skaarland her fianc Lewis Reynolds, Lee (Tina) Skaarland, Karen (Proffitt) (Kevin) Hulquist, Andy(Amy) Proffitt; five great-grandchildren, Rachel Flanagan, John Flanagan, Jr., Kaden Skaarland, Kylee Rae Hulquist and Norah Kate Proffitt; several step-children, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren; sister, Betty Ward, brothers, Richard "Dick" Proffitt and Robert "Bob" Proffitt. Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.A graveside service will be Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, please meet at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home (118 N 3rd St) by 10:45 to proceed to the cemetery.
