LuVerne Ruth Briggs, 86, of Livingston, Montana passed away on Thursday, October 5th, 2023 with her family by her side. Cremation has taken place at Franzen-Davis Crematory in Livingston. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

LuVerne was born on June 11th, 1937 in Alexandria, Minnesota, the daughter of Ruth and Thomas Syvertson. The Syvertson family relocated to Livingston, Montana in 1951, when LuVerne was 14 years old. Her parents owned Yellowstone Dry Cleaners and the Dry Kiln Lumber Yard east of Livingston. After graduating from Park High School, at the age of 18, LuVerne moved to Denver, Colorado, to attend Parks School of Business, from which she earned her secretarial degree in 1956.

Upon finishing her studies, LuVerne returned to Livingston and began working with Burlington Northern Railroad in the accounting office. It was there that she met the love of her life, Samuel “Sam” Briggs. What began as a friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership and they were married In 1957. Sam was not only her soulmate but also her confidant and best friend. Together, they were blessed with three children; Becky, Steve, and Julie. LuVerne stood by Sam's side and became his dedicated caregiver when he became ill and lost his eyesight and mobility. They were happily married for 53 years until his passing.

LuVerne embodied many roles in her life: a caring mother, devoted sister, adoring grandmother and great-grandmother, and avid sports fan. She loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events, often driving long distances through snowy conditions with Sam by her side. When her brother Denny returned to Paradise Valley, they spent time hiking and climbing mountains together. Even into her 60's, you could find LuVerne floating down the Yellowstone with her family or hiking a mountain in the Paradise Valley.

If you were lucky enough to know LuVerne, you knew how much she loved her family. LuVerne was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Thomas Syvertson; her beloved husband Sam Briggs, her sister Marlys Werle, her brother Denny Syvertson, and son-in-law Pat Rehmer.
