Lynn Harry Fuqua, 90, of Livingston passed away at Caslen Living Center on Saturday, April 12, 2014, after a long battle with emphysema and COPD. Funeral service will be held at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home on 3:30 P.M., Thursday, April 17. Lynns final resting place will be at Mountain View Cemetery next to his deceased wife and parents. Military Honors will be presented by Livingston American Legion and V.F.W. Lynn was born in Roundup, MT, on July 9, 1923, and was the son of Harry and Lottie (Collins) Fuqua. He had one older brother, Jerome Fuqua, who predeceased him. The family moved to Livingston in 1927. Lynn graduated from Park County High School in 1941 and graduated from Curtis Wright Technical Institute, Glendale, CA with a technical degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1942. Lynn served in the US Army as a First Lieutenant in WWII, based in Italy, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Ruth Hacker in 1946 and worked at Boeing Aircraft and on the Northern Pacific Railroad before beginning his long career with the Mountain States Telephone Company. Lynn served as the telephone manager in West Yellowstone, Malta, Plentywood, Miles City, and Great Falls. He became the telephone manager in Livingston in 1965 where he retired in 1984. He married Joyce Caruso Mason in 1964, who preceded him in death July 4, 2000. Lynn was involved in many civic organizations including the Livingston Golf Club, Chairman Livingston Chamber of Commerce, Livingston Community Hospital Board, Park County School Board, Rotary Club, Committees for the Livingston Depot, and Livingston Community Trust. He was also a member of Scottish Rite of the Free Masons and the Algerian Temple of the Shrine, and the Elks Lodge. Lynn recited poetry, enjoyed playing the piano, golfing and was an avid fly fisherman. When he could no longer fish, he tied thousands of files over the years and donated them to the Boy Scouts of Americas fly-fishing program. This past year Lynn was honored at the Livingston Elks Lodge by the Fly Fishing Federation for his involvement and contributions. All of Lynns fly-fishing supplies and materials will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Program (4899 Belfort Rd. # 300; Jacksonville, FL 32256). In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials be sent to this worthwhile organization or to the Shriners Children Hospital. The family would like to thank the staff at Caslen Living Center for all their support and kindness to Lynn while he was in residence there. A very grateful and loving acknowledgement to Penny Willyerd, Lynns caregiver of many years and to his dearest friend and companion, Jean Barry. With immediate family living far away, both Penny and Jean were his lifeline and they cared for him and loved him very much. Lynn is survived by his son, Michael Fuqua, Spanaway, WA, daughter, Charlotte Fuqua Glover, Keowee Key, SC, stepdaughters Sheila Murie, Cheney, WA, and Danna Shultz, Whitefish, MT, their spouses and families. Although Lynn lost his ability to do many of the things he enjoyed in life, he never lost his sense of humor no matter what the situation. He lived a full life and is now free to "breathe" again. Arrangements are under the direction of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
