Lynn Weaver died on October 31, 2015 following three years of aggressive treatment for Stage 4 recurrent (1999) triple-negative breast cancer. A memorial service will be held at Noon on Friday, November 6th at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Livingston, MT. A reception will follow at the Shane Center from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Lynn was born in Pittsburgh, PA to parents Angela B. and Gerald W. Weaver. She attended public schools in Wexford and Gibsonia, PA following the familys move to Pittsburghs North Hills area in 1954. Lynn received her Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in English from Allegheny College in 1972. She attended graduate school at the University of Maine and the University of Pittsburgh before moving to Boston in 1975, where she and a business partner built a home services company there. She also wrote for the countercultural presses, and created and hosted a radio show with four other women for the MIT public access station. Then in 1984, Lynn began a high-tech career working for Digital Equipment Corporation. In 1990, Lynn moved to Marin County, California where she worked as a freelance technical writer for a variety of startups. She eventually took a full-time job at Sun Microsystems working in San Francisco and Silicon Valley. While at Sun, she wrote three books about Java programming tools, which were published as part of the Prentice-Hall technical reference series. With a desire to live a less crowded life, she began to explore towns across the U. S. in 2001. After falling in love with Montana, Livingston became her home in 2002. After only one year, she quit her high tech career and went to work for Park County Friends of the Arts, as Executive Director of the Danforth Gallery. Subsequently, she developed her own business, a successful web design service with clients throughout Montana and Wyoming. In the 14 years that Lynn lived in Livingston, she became an integral and vital member of the Livingston community. She was a fierce proponent of equality and human rights. She was a devotee of the local arts and artists and believed in the important and necessary role the arts contribute to healthy communities. Lynn was an avid donor to the Stafford Animal Shelter, both financially as well as volunteering her technical skills on a variety of projects. Lynn strongly supported small business and was a compassionate champion for those in need, and always stood tall and firm for the impoverished. She loved Livingston and the surrounding area including, most passionately, Yellowstone National Park. Her Livingston 365 project at Livingston365.com was one of her most satisfying achievements. Taking a photograph a day for one year, she told the story of a small community, the landscape, the animals and the people within, through the lens of her camera. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Lynn was very grateful for the kindness and caring compassion of the admissions crew, her oncology nurses, her hospice team, and especially Dara Lynn Arnold. They made all the difference in the world. Lynn is survived by her mother Angela Weaver, sisters Lisa and Diane Weaver (Richard Thames), brother Gerald (Lily Chu), nephew Simon Weaver, nieces Harriet Weaver and Laura Thames, numerous cousins, and her beloved dog Dibs. Her father Gerald Weaver died in 1999.
