Margaret Ann (Coster) Walton

November 19, 1932 — March 18, 2016

Margaret (Margie) Ann Walton, 83, formerly of Livingston, MT, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016, at Hearthstone at Murrayhill in Beaverton, OR, following a long and valiant fight against Alzheimers Disease. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 26, at American Lutheran Church, visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery. Fellowship at the church will follow the burial. Margie was born on November 19, 1932, in Big Timber, MT. She was the daughter of Harry and Hilda (Warp) Coster. She received her education in Big Timber and was a graduate of the Sweet Grass County High School Class of 1950. On July 1, 1951 Margie was united in marriage with Carl Walton in Big Timber, Montana. Margie and Carl started their life and family in Livingston, spent a short time in Big Timber, then returned to Livingston to raise their family. They were blessed with three children, beginning with Jim in July of 1952, Gary in August of 1954, and Joni in July of 1962. Margie and Carl shared 49 years of marriage before Carls passing in 2000. Margie lived in Livingston until 2006 when she moved to Tigard, Oregon to be near her youngest grandchildren. As a young woman Margie worked on the Hart Dude Ranch. Many years later she still spoke of her days tending to the dudes that came from the east to experience the wild and wooly west. Margie was an active member of the American Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Morning Circle where she made many lifelong friends. She served on the church council, taught Sunday school, and served many potlucks and receptions. Her faith was very important to her and carried her through many difficult times in her life. Margie devoted her life to caring for others. She was an attentive and loving mother and grandmother well into her childrens and grandchildrens adulthood. Once her children were grown, she cared for her parents, Carls parents, and other extended family members until they passed. She assisted several friends who had health problems and was a regular volunteer for Meals on Wheels. As part of caring for others, Margie was a great baker, and her home was always open for coffee, a visit, or an extended stay. As Margies health declined, she was still able to read and enjoy letters and cards, and enjoyed looking at pictures of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margie is survived by her children, Jim Walton of Bozeman, MT, Tracy Walton of Park City, UT, Gary Walton of Big Sky, MT, Sarah Walton of Butte, MT, and Joni Fusick and her husband, Mark, of Tigard, OR; grandchildren Brian Walton and his wife, Irina, of Walnut Creek, CA, Charlie Walton and his wife, Heather, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Katie Walton and her fianc, Nick Peretti, of Chicago, IL, Sam Fusick of Tigard, OR, Corey Fusick of Tigard, OR, great-grandchildren, Carly and Shawn Walton of Walnut Creek, CA; and sister, Barbara (Bobbie) Avent of Billings, MT She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and and friends. Margie is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Hilda Coster, and her husband Carl.
