Martha "Kay" Sitton

Livingston

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Martha Kay (Haveman) Sitton earlier this week. Kay was an angel to the community of Livingston, volunteering for many years and sharing her passion for 4H, the county fair, and the rodeo association.

Kay and her husband George were loyal and dedicated fans of the Park High Rangers. She knew almost everyone in Park County, having attended and cheered for not only her own kids and grandkids, but decades of athletes, then their kids, and eventually their grandkids!

It was always inspiring to go anywhere with Kay because she knew people’s names, who they married, where they lived, how many kids they had and what each kid was doing! Many friends asked Kay to create their wedding cakes. If community is made of fibers that connect us, Kay wove a tapestry of kindness, compassion and humor.

Kay was born in Billings and grew up on the family ranch in Myers, MT. She graduated from Hysham High and attended college in Billings. She worked at The Grand Hotel in Big Timber and was in Livingston one weekend when she found George playing poker on the floor of The Cave. We are not exactly sure how she saw his face—it was dark in there—but it turned into a lifetime of love, fun and adventures. They married in 1956 and honeymooned to Glacier.

It’s no surprise that Kay created a loving and welcoming home. She and George were blessed with three children (Roger, Kathy and Georgia) and despite George’s wish for a quiet evening in his recliner, Kay made sure the Sitton household was always lively.

Kay was awaited in heaven by her husband of 59 years, George, who most likely greeted her with, “What took ya’ so long?” while John and Carole stood by waiting to once again go dancing. We are certain her beloved granddaughter Katie greeted her with roses.

Along with her legacy of caring, Kay leaves behind her three children Roger (Cheryl) Sitton, Kathy (John) Powell-Case, and Georgia (Kelly) McAdams. Grandkids: Stephen (Anastasia) Sitton, Michael (Rachel) Sitton, Kristen (Jesse) Burciaga; Cody (Emily) Powell; Matt (Delmy) McAdams; plus seven great grandkids with another due next month.

A funeral service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 3, 2025, at Franzen-Davis Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place the same day at 3:00 p.m. at Rancher Cemetery in Hysham, MT.
