Mary Jane Leyner

November 14, 1942 — December 27, 2017

Mary Jane (Foley) Leyner, 75, of the Shields Valley, Park County, Montana passed away suddenly from injuries sustained in car wreck on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017. Mary Jane was born on November 14, 1942 to parents, James and Lydia Foley. She grew up in Boulder, Colorado and later lived in Lafayette, Colorado before she and Al (and the dog, cats, llamas, horses and raccoon) moved to Livingston, Montana. She earned both a BA and an MS from University of Colorado, Boulder. Throughout the years she was the best partner and wife for Al, as well as a being a business partner with Colorado Outdoor School, LRI, and fifty-seven years of farming and ranching. Mary Jane retired from the Boulder County School District. She got great joy from being active with many non-profits for both people and animals. Some of these include Friends of the (Livingston) Library, Spay and Neuter Clinic, Dead Rock Writers and the Community Choir. She was artistic, inquisitive, with a love of all things, both two and four legged, a kind soul, and possessed a cheerful outlook which was unmatched. During the more than 15 years she spent in Montana, Mary Jane found a wonderfully warm and loving community which quickly became a new family. Mary Jane will be kept company by her friend Tuck, the border collie, but will be missed by many, but none more than her husband, Al Leyner, and the cats Foxie and Collie. A memorial service is not planned, but donations to the organizations mentioned would be appreciated. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences may be shared at franzen-davis.com.
