Mary Louise (Menke) Wiens

October 21, 1933 — May 5, 2019

Mary Louise (Menke) Wiens, 85, of Livingston, Montana passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2019. A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M., on Saturday, May 11 at the First Baptist Church, at the corner of South B and East Lewis Streets in Livingston. Viewing and visitation will begin at 1:30 at the church. Graveside committal and burial will then be at the Mountain View Cemetery and a reception will then be held at the church.Mary was born on October 21, 1933 in Beach, North Dakota to Robert and Faith (Nichols) Menke.She was a graduate of the Beach High School. Following her graduation, she moved to Valley City, ND where she attended and graduated from Valley City State Teachers College. It was there that she met the love of her life, Roland Wiens. Following graduation Mary and Roland were united in marriage on July 12, 1954, in Beach. Roland taught at the Stanton, ND high school and was principal and a teacher at Hebron, ND; all this time Mary was tending to her growing family.In 1959, she and Roland moved to Livingston, their first day in Livingston was the 1959 Yellowstone Earthquake. Quite a welcome They made their lives here raising their family ever since.Most will remember Mary for her years working at the hospital where she was a cook. She also delivered meals on wheels for many years.Mary was involved in many civic organizations, she also held many offices with the church she was so devoted to, First Baptist, she was also a member of the American Baptist Woman. Mary was artsy, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting sweaters for her children and most of the grandchildren. She enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles.Marys greatest joy was her family, time spent with Roland, her children and grandchildren.Survivors include her children, two sons, Robert Wiens of Butte, MT, and Roland Wiens and his wife, Sherry of Issaguah, WA; and two daughters, Marilee Will and her husband, Richard of Sidney, MT and Laurel Prescott and her husband, Jim of Belgrade, MT; eight grandchildren, Andrew Wiens of Bellevue, WA, Justin Will and his wife, Valerie of Omaha, NE, Nathan Will of Oklahoma City, OK, Stephen Will of Temecula, CA, Karen Will of Sidney, MT, Mary Ruth Prescott of New York, NY and James and Benjamin Prescott of Belgrade, MT; 15 great-grandchildren. Other relatives and many dear friends.She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Faith Menke, and her husband, Roland who died Feb. 6, 2002.Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
