Dr. Merle Bouma, 83, of Livingston, Montana passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the Bozeman Deaconess Hospital. A Church Universal and Triumphant transition service will be held on Saturday, May 20th, 4 P.M, at the Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory (118 North 3rd St, Livingston). A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 2:00 P.M. at St. Marks Church Universal and Triumphant (130 S D St, Livingston). Merle was born on July 8th, 1933 in Hull, Iowa the son of Peter and Lena Bouma on the family farm. The family soon after relocated to Edgerton, Minnesota. Merle attended the Christian Reformed Church along with his eleven brothers and sisters. He is survived by three of them, Ken Bouma of Michigan, Joy (Glenn) DeGroat of Colorado and Elvira Corbin of Edgerton, Minnesota, Merles hometown. He married Margy Bouma in California on July 9th, 1972. The couple celebrated 38 years of marriage prior to her passing in 2010. Merle was in the Military and served in the European Theater before his discharge in 1956. He then attended Chiropractor Schooling and has been practicing for the past 50 years. His latest office, Livingston Chiropractic, he had operated for the past 27 years. There he pursued Chiropractic and Alternative Healing Techniques. Merle was a member of the Church Universal and Triumphant for over forty years, and was a founder of St. Marks Church Universal and Triumphant in Livingston. Merle is survived by his step-daughter, Marlene Harlow and her children, Jennifer and Crystal and step-son, Tom (Debbie) Harlow and their children, Brian, Matthew and Grady. His is also survived by his "adopted daughter" and close friend, Marian ONeil and her daughter Shay. His brothers and sister, and numerous grand nephews, grand nieces, other family and friends. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Angelina, Tracy, Otto, Henry, Julie, Mildred, Lowell and his twin brother Marvin. Merle lived to love filled with compassion to serve everyone around him and was deeply involved with his community and church. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
