Mike Peter Suniga, resident of Livingston Montana, formerly of Brentwood and Oakley California, passed away on October 16th, 2017 at Livingston HealthCare at the age of 94 years, one day short of his 95th birthday. Mike was born on October 17th, 1922 in Pittsburg, California. He graduated from Pittsburg High School and enlisted with the Coast Guard. He served his country during WWII from 1942 1946. He then went to Barber school and had his own barber shop in Oakley, CA for many years. In 1972 he began working for Contra Costa Water District and retired in 1990. He loved that job! After retirement, he started a yard maintenance business and continued to make yards lovely until he moved with his wife, Liz, to Montana in 2003. Mike loved to be outside and was a wonderful gardener. He enjoyed playing his guitar and he loved to dance. He was always busy, always working on a project. He loved to travel and cherished his last trip with all three of his sons in Washington D.C. on the last WWII Honor Flight out of Montana. He enjoyed taking care of his chickens and especially loved his cat, Chiquita. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 26 years, Liz Suniga, brother, Tony Suniga, sons, Michael (Mary) Suniga, Gilbert (Linda) Suniga, and Steve (Terry) Suniga. Grandchildren, Sharifa Huser, Athena Suniga, Lauren and Danika Suniga. Great grandchildren, Ingrid, Mabel and Matilde Huser. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Maria Suniga, sisters, Olivia and Alice Suniga, brothers, Sal and Peter Suniga and one granddaughter, Natalya Suniga. A viewing and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 24th, 11am at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1965 Reliez Valley Rd, Lafayette, CA 94549. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
