Mildred Ursula "Mae" (Bernard) Lyman, 101, of Carson City, Nevada, passed away Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 at Skyline Estates Senior Living in Carson City. Cremation has taken place at Autumn Funerals and Cremations in Carson City. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Livingston, MT, at a later date to be determined by the family. Mildred "Mae" was born on May 9th, 1915 in Harihan, LA. She was the daughter of Amilcar Luke and Catherine (Smith) Bernard. She received her education in Harihan. Following school she moved west with her family which is when she met Sabin Ora "Butch" Lyman. They were married June 12th, 1936 in Salinas, California. Their marriage was blessed with three boys, Clifford Eugene, Stanley Bernard and Paul Wayne. Mae was a homemaker and also spent many years traveling with Butch on his farming jobs. Mae and Butch had spent the majority of their years together in Salinas area. Later they moved to Lewiston, ID after Butch had retired; later they moved to Livingston, MT to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Mae and Butch had enjoyed 53 years of marriage prior to Butchs passing in 1989. Following Butchs death Mae moved back to Lewiston, ID to live with her son Stanley and his family. They lived there for several years before moving to Yerington, NV; then a move to the assisted living facility in Carson City was where she resided until her death. Over the years Mae enjoyed rock collecting, cooking her traditional southern dishes, traveling with Butch, and watching her family grow. In her later years she so enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren as they so enjoyed her as well. Mae is survived by her sons, Stanley Bernard Lyman and his wife, Bonnie and Paul Wayne Lyman and his wife Gerri; a daughter-in-law Leonore Lyman; seven grandchildren, Loralee Anne Lyman, Clint Eugene Lyman, Kristin Sara Lyman, Ashleigh Ann Lyman, Lindsey Noble Lyman Maierle and Benjamin Sabin Lyman; as well as, four great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Mae was preceded in death by both her husband, her parents, all of her siblings and her oldest son Clifford Eugene. She will be remembered for her strong Catholic faith (her rosary was never too far away; her love of family (especially her grandchildren) and her wonderful gumbo!
