Myrtle Alice (Stephens) Hoffman, 82, of Clyde Park, Montana passed away on Friday, April 29th, 2016 at her home with her daughter and son at her side. A memorial funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 10th, at the Shields Valley United Methodist Church in Clyde Park. Reverend Frederick Amborn III will officiate. The service will be followed by a reception at the church. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to her church, Shields Valley United Methodist Church: PO Box 142; Clyde Park, MT 59018. Myrtle was born on July 28th, 1933 in Parkersburg, West Virginia, the fourth of five siblings, the only daughter, to Floyd and Ethel (Henthorn) Stephens. The family moved to Clyde Park Montana when her father took the call to become the minister at the Clyde Park Methodist Church. Myrtle attended Clyde Park Schools graduating from the Clyde Park High School, the class of 1951. On June 10th, 1951 Myrtle was united in marriage to the love of her life, James Donald "Don" Hoffman. Their marriage was blessed with two children, daughter, Juanita and son, Mark. They raised their family in the Clyde Park area. She and Don worked his familys Ranch for some time until going on their own assisting other ranchers with their operations. Later Don and Myrtle opened and operated, "Dons Market and Lockers," for more than 30 years. Don was the meat cutter and Myrtle was by his side wrapping each cut and handling the bookkeeping for the business. Myrtle had "retired" from working the store in the 80s but still kept the bookkeeping in order from home. She and Don shared 54 years of marriage prior to his death on March 19th, 2005. Myrtle was a proud and faithful member of the church her father pastored, Shields Valley United Methodist Church. She was a 50 year member of the Orient Chapter #6 of the Order of the Eastern Star. In her younger days she was vigorously active playing softball, bowling, hiking, riding horses and snowmobiling. She was a masterful seamstress, knitting, doing needle-point, cross-stitch and crewel; she made her childrens clothing while they were young and made her grandchildren life size Raggedy Ann and Andy Dolls. She was a talented musician mastering the accordion and used to sing in the church choir. She could cook and bake like no ones business. She and Don used to go dancing, they especially enjoyed square dancing. She was a woman of grace. She had a quite respectful demeanor and a huge heart doing all she could for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Myrtle is survived by her children, daughter, Juanita Mullin and her husband, Mike, Juanitas children, Stacey Adams and Joshua (Lisa) Adams; son, Mark Hoffman and his wife, Vicky, their children, daughter Markie Hoffman and son, Kamron Hoffman. Great-grandchildren, Thomas, Zakary and Briley. Brother, Ted Stephens and his wife, Loretta. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
