Nancy Jo Shaffer Smith, 78, of Red Lodge, Montana, passed away as the result of a car accident, Wednesday, August 12, 2014 outside of Livingston, Montana. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Funeral Service is held Saturday, August 16, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Red Lodge (723 S. Adams). Nancy was born on June 20, 1936 to Clark and Margaret Shaffer in Johnstown, PA. On June 21, 1957 she married Roger R. Smith and in 1960 they welcomed daughter Amy. From Syracuse, NY the family moved to Phoenix, AZ. Nancy was an internationally recognized breeder of purebred Old English Sheepdogs and Pembroke Welsh Corgis and AKC and international dog show Judge. Her involvement in the dog showing world provided her and the family great joy, as well as over 40 years of dear and beloved human and canine friends. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Amy and Kent Brown, beloved grandchildren Jared and Jessica Brown, all of Wichita, KS and special friends Jennifer and Mark DeVol of Sierra Vista, AZ. She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed. Arrangements are under the direction of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
