She was the daughter of Nels and Thora (Vinningland) Swandal. Nordie lived her entire life in the Shields Valley having attended Wilsall High School and graduating in 1941. She then took classes at the Billings Business School before her marriage to Bernard Lennemann on January 23rd, of 1942. She and Bernard were blessed with 68 years of marriage; many of their favorite memories were of the dances they attended at the Saddle Club in Livingston. Following marriage, Nordie worked at Kings Grocery Store in Wilsall and in 1956 became the manager. In 1958 Nordie bought the store and renamed it "Nordies Store" which it had remained until the sale of the store in January of 2009. Both Nordie and her store were so much more than a place to get groceries. It was the social hub of Wilsall and all the surrounding ranches. It was a place to gather, chat, leave messages for each other and find out the important happenings around the area. The most important stop for the school bus was there to allow the kids to buy a treat for the ride home. Nordie is survived by her children: daughters, Sandra Walle and her husband, Tuck of Dayton, MT; Melodee Kelly and her husband, Mike of Bozeman, MT and son, Richard Lennemann and his wife, Robin of Bozeman, MT. Thirteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Sisters, Irene Payne of Post Falls, ID and June Miller of Wilsall, MT; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by, her parents Nels and Thora Swandal, her husband Bernard Lennemann, sisters, Margaret Saunders, Thelma King and Violet Anderson; her brothers, Herbert and Austin Swandal, and a great-grandson, Alec Lennemann. Nordie was blessed to have spent the night prior to her passing in her own home; she passed peacefully the following day at her sons home in Bozeman surrounded by her children and many other family members. Her journey, which began as a young girl riding on horseback to a one room school house and spanned the progression of the 21st century, has ended, we are amazed and proud of everything she has seen and accomplished in her 93 years. Blessed be her memory. Arrangements are under the care of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences may be shared at franzen-davis.com
