Norma Alene (Strickfaden) Gullickson

April 30, 1929 — December 23, 2018

Norma Alene Gullickson, 89, of Livingston, peacefully passed away after a short illness, on Sunday, December 23, 2018 with her family close by. Norma was born in California, Cook County, Missouri to Andrew and Celeste (Keil) Strickfaden on April 29th. 1930. The depression caused the family to move from Missouri to Great Falls, Montana in 1936, Norma was six. Norma attended Great Falls public school, graduating from Great Falls High School in 1948. Continuing her education, Norma attended Montana State College - Bozeman, graduating with a degree in Art. To help pay school her tuition, Norma taught tennis. She was an active member of Delta Gamma sorority. A mutual friend introduced Norma to Morris Gullickson, whom she married in October of 1952, in Great Falls. After their marriage she followed Morris to Minneapolis, MN as Morris was pursuing his degree in survey work. One of her lifes highlights was living in the city and being able to work at the Daytons department store. Returning to Livingston, MT in 1954.Norma devoted the early years of her married life raising Andrea and Garth. She was involved in numerous organizations and activities that were very near to her heart; Grey Ladies Hospital Association, PEO Chapter AP, American Association of University Women, Eastern Star, Nile, a member of Holbrook United Methodist church and various bridge groups. Other activities she enjoyed were tennis, snowmobiling, ice skating, fishing, canoeing and sewing. She made several prom dresses for Andrea as well as numerous outfits for the Rangerette girls.When the children were out of the house, Norma returned to Montana State University obtaining her Elementary Education degree, which she promptly put to a good use as a substitute teacher in the Livingston School System. She later moved on to administering the art program for St. Marys Catholic School for 10 years.As the railroad downsized, Morris was transferred to Havre, MT, where she and Morris lived until 1991 when Morris retired, they then moved back to Livingston. Norma kept active with her organizations, building a cabin in the valley, church, travel both national and international. Norma continued to teach and learn up until her death.She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, William Strickfaden; sister, Marilyn StrickfadenSmith and her only grandson, Andrew "Andy" Busch. She is survived by her husband, Morris, daughter, Andrea Gullickson of Livingston and son, Garth Gullickson of Salt Lake City.A memorial service will be held 10:00A.M. on Saturday, May 11, at the Holbrook United Methodist Church. A reception will follow at the Holbrook Hall.Memorials may be given to Shriners Childrens Hospital, Holbrook Methodist Church or a charity of the donors choice.Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with arrangements.
