Patricia Ann (Miller) France, age 81, of Wilsall, Montana, formerly of Branchburg, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday November 21, 2013 at Livingston HealthCare after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Pat was born on August 16, 1932, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Rudolph B. and Anne (Gohn) Miller. Pat was raised in Elizabeth until age 14 when the family moved to Matawan. She graduated from Matawan High School in 1950 and Orange Memorial School of Nursing in 1953. Upon graduation, she married Edward (Ned) France on September 10, 1955 and together they raised four children. After her children were grown, she returned to nursing for a number of years. Pat had a special love for all animals, particularly cats. She was very supportive of the Humane Society and their overall mission and values. In addition, Pat loved to spend time at the beach, as well as knitting and crocheting and she was also an avid reader. Pat's strong and generous spirit will be missed by her family and friends. As her struggle with Alzheimer's progressed, Pat lived with her daughter Carol and family in Branchburg, NJ and in her final years with her daughter Sue and son-in-law Joe in Wilsall, MT. Pat is survived by her children Ken France and his wife Fran of Limestone, TN, Kate Shotts and her husband Gregg of Stanardsville, VA, Carol Barbati and her husband Tom of Branchburg, NJ, Sue Scott and her husband Joe of Wilsall, MT; Grandchildren Harlie France, Josh Huddleston, Torri (Adam) Miller, Allison Barbati; one great-grandson; Sister, Susan Wright of Sunderland, MA, and many other relatives and friends. The family would like to express their appreciation to all those who cared for Pat over the years, especially Iselin Matthews and son-in-law Joe, for their loving care during her most challenging final years. Arrangements are under the direction of Franzen-Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of your choosing in honor of Pat's love of animals.
