Ralph Robert Hanks, 90, long-time resident of Livingston, Montana, passed away Wednesday, March 13th, 2019 at Frontier Assisted Living.A memorial funeral service will be held 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 16th, 2019 at the Franzen-Davis Chapel, 118 North 3rd Street, Livingston. Veterans honors will be presented by Park Post #23, American Legion and the Sergeant Tommy Ray, V.F.W. Post #2154. Ralph was born on May 15, 1928, in Fulton County Pennsylvania. He was the son of Watson and Anna Matilda (Pasco) Hanks. He received his education in Harrisonville, Pennsylvania. Ralph worked for a time on the railroad in Pennsylvania, before enlisting in the Army. Ralph entered active military service in the United States Army on March 12, 1946 and served his country during World War II. He served with company G and the 15th Infantry. He received an Honorable Discharge on March 11, 1949. Once out of the Army he worked a bit and then followed his brothers to Montana. Here he worked at Downers Saw Mill, then began a career in road construction. Ralph always said he helped build half the roads all over Montana. He was injured on the job by a 500-pound hammer while working east of Livingston, he healed and was back to work as soon as he could be. Ralph lived in Livingston his entire adult life. He loved to hunt deer and elk, and really any hunting all over Park County. In his later years he loved to watch football and was an avid Bobcats fan. People in Livingston will remember him walking all over downtown and visiting with everyone he met. Every Memorial Day Ralph arrived at Sacajawea Park at 6:00 A.M. to help set out the flags honoring the veterans and supporting his community. Ralph was a well-rounded family man and cared for his family above all else. Blessed be his memory. Ralph is survived by his daughters, Tammy M. Hanks of Killeen, Texas and Pollyanna (Jerry) Johnson of Huntsville, TX; his grandchildren, Monica, Jasmine, Markey, Kristine, Latresha, Kristianna and Alexis; great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jordan, Angel and Faith. He is also survived by sisters, Catherine, Juanita, Neada and Martha. Nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives and friends. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
