Ralph Clinton Harper left this world on Friday, May 20, 2022, to join his heavenly family.
Born, January 25, 1952, in Mount Vernon, Washington to Ralph L. Harper and Gwynneth E. Meader. He was welcomed by brothers, Fred, David and John, and later was older brother to his sister, Mary.
Ralph attended Stanwood Elementary School, then moved to Lake City Elementary, Jane Addams Junior High, and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in Seattle.
Ralph joined the Navy after graduation in 1971 and retired in 1993. While most of his years were in the Naval Reserves, he spent four years on the mine sweeper USS Verio 205, he also had many memorable years in MIUW 2122 and MIUW 101 out of Sandpoint Naval Air Station in Seattle. It was at Sandpoint where he met his future wife, Jo Ann Barrett, who was also in the Navy. They married in 1983.
This union added three boys to their family, Clint, Nathan and Shane. The family lived in Lake City, Everett and Marysville, WA before moving to Livingston in 1994.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Jo Ann, of Livingston; children: son, Clinton (Whitney) of Sturgis, SD, with their children Brylee and Stella, son, Nathan (Megan) of Moorpark, CA, with their children, Kieran and Baileigh, and Shane (Emily) of Live Oak, CA with their children, Landon and Kinsley; brothers, David and John; sister, Mary; numerous nieces and nephews; and all of his fellow Veterans.
Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fred; in-laws, Jim & Ginny Barrett; sister-in-law, Dorothy Barrett; and brother-in-law, Richard Barrett.
A vigil service will be held Friday, May 27, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 511 South F Street, Livingston. A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, May 28, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial with Veteran’s Honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery, after which all are invited to a reception at St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Mary’s Church or School or to a charity of your choice.
