Richard L. Adams

Rich was born to Wayne and Jennie (Frelich) Adams In Livingston on Sept. 9, 1947 and died April 21, 2021. He grew up in Livingston, graduating from Park High in 1966. He attended college in Bozeman.Rich worked for the Northern Pacific and BNSF Railroads and retired in 2007 after 40 years of service. He held several positions with the railroad, retiring as Work Equipment Supervisor. He spent his last working years in Glendive where he enjoyed paddle fishing and hanging out with old friends from Livingston and new friends from Glendive. Hunting deer and turkey with his buddy Estil was always a high point. After his retirement he returned to Livingston and got back into the activities he enjoyed before he left. Coffee each day with the boys at the Office and Pitch Night at the Elks were favorite retirement activities.Rich enjoyed the many things his county had to offer. His passions were hunting, heading out to the farm (followed by broasted chicken at Clyde Park) and spending time in the mountains. Hunting camp was a highlight each year. It was a time to spend with his brothers, sons, nephews, and a couple friends. His sons were taught to hunt as soon as they were old enough and Rich loved to introduce them to the back roads of Park County. He knew them all. He also loved to regale his sons with tales of his youth. One particular favorite was about his first job as a paperboy and all of the people he delivered to back in the old days.In his earlier years Rich spent his extra time at the junkyard with Uncle Leonard and Aunt Helen. Throughout his life he continued to enjoy tinkering with vehicles. He preferred his equipment to require his mechanical ability to start. His final project was the restoration of a couple of old Willys Jeeps. Rich is survived by his wife, Shonna; his sons, Jesse (Nicole) and Jake, of Colorado; his brothers, Stan (Bobbi) and Randy (Paula); brother-in-law, Bert (Karen) Olson; and his nieces, nephews, and cousins. Rich loved and enjoyed his family and the time he spent with them. His sense of humor will be missed by all.Rich was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lee Olson.The family wishes to thank his good and faithful friends for the care and love they offered Rich these last several months. Wayne and Linda Nelson were so special to him.A celebration of Rich's life will be held at the Elks Club in Livingston, 130 S. 2nd St, on Saturday, May 8, 2021, from 1-3 P.M., please join us.
